Brian has served on the S.F. Bay Area Chapter in multiple capacities over the past years.
Brian has worked in the environmental planning field for the past 7 years. He graduated from Humboldt State
University with a degree in Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation. Upon graduating, Brian accepted a
position with the Napa County Conservation, Development, and Planning Department where he was quickly immersed in
the nuances of conditional use permits, variances, and CEQA. After a couple years, Brian wanted to explore the
private consulting world and spent the next couple of years working on EIR’s, water resources planning,
and other consulting projects before opting to return to his original area of interest in planning for the
preservation and conservation of open space and recreation lands. After nearly three years in the consulting
world, Brian returned to the public sector and is now employed with the East Bay Regional Parks District as a
Senior Planner.
Brian grew up near the town of Bishop in the Eastern Sierra region of California and developed a strong interest
in public land management, wilderness preservation, and outdoor recreation. In his spare time he enjoys skiing
and snowboarding, backpacking and camping, biking and other outdoor activities. His current position is an ideal
synthesis of the values he was raised with and the planning education he received, allowing him to work towards
providing quality open space, habitat, and outdoor experiences at the fringe of the urban Bay Area region and,
in a selfish pursuit, hopes this will decrease the number of people flooding the Sierra’s on the weekends.
